Being Straightforward

My principle has been honesty, being straightforward.

I hold on to the word of Gandhi, "A "No" uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a "Yes"
merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble."

But now, it turns out the other way round. Changes my standing.

I realise that me being straightforward, tends to land me on deep shit conditions. Offending, hurting others as well as making myself an easy target where people will find faults with me cause my existence showing them the bloody truth which unacceptable.

Recently, someone has thought me something. In the competitive working world, besides being honest and have integrity, must also equip myself with EQ. Knowing what to say to whom in what situation, I can't just blurred out like that. Must have some IQ and EQ of the situation, tactics I assume.

For example, even though the person is fat and obese, I shall not answer when he asked me. I should avoid the question, and push it back to him to decide, as it is a tricky question.

That is how the corporate world operates, interaction between people. Nothing seems real, all are based on maintaining good relationships for mutual benefits.

Something which I must get used to.
